We are a "missional" church, participating in the life of the Spirit among us, in our community, and around the world.
We partner with GREATER BAY AREA MINISTERIUM (GBAM) churches to provide ecumenical worship experiences in celebration of these holidays:
Community Good Friday Worship
Easter Sunrise Service at the Belfast Boathouse
Community Thanksgiving Worship.
Together with churches throughout the area we support the Belfast Soup Kitchen, the Belfast Food Cupboard at the United Methodist Church, and Home Heating Assistance program of GBAM.
We host in our building AA and ALANON meetings held several times each week.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF WALDO COUNTY has an office here and holds board and committee meetings at First Baptist. Several from this congregation participate in the board and committees of Habitat for Humanity. In fact, the Waldo County chapter was started from the vision and passion of this congregation.
We VOLUNTEER in the work of THE GAME LOFT, a community after-school youth center in Belfast.
Several of our members are VOLUNTEERS at WALDO COUNTY GENERAL HOSPITAL.
We make regular contributions to several local outreach efforts including MAKING CHANGE (Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll), THE GAME LOFT, and MIDCOAST REGIONAL REENTRY CENTER.
We give to the United Mission of American Baptist Churches, USA and provide individual support to several ABC missionaries, including:
Dr. Bill and Ann Clemmer in South Sudan
Ann Clemmer visited our congregation recently and described
the work Bill is doing to help establish a health system for this
newest of nations. Ann is coordinating support for nurses being
trained in obstetrics in nearby Kenya.
